Throughput of port Ust-Luga up 12% to 58.89 mln t in 7M’2017

In January-July 2017, the port of Ust-Luga handled 58,890,800 t of cargo (+12%, year-on-year), says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo climbed by 31% to 19,694,600 t, coal and coke – up 43% to 16,841,00 t.

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo climbed by 4% to 37,363,100 t including 19,025,700 t of crude oil (+12%) and 17,187,500 t of oil products (-4%).

Transshipment of general cargo grew by 4% to 401,500 t.

Transshipment of cargoes carried by ferries was flat, year-on-year, at 830,800 t.

The port’s container throughput fell by 5% to 42,866 TEUs.

In 2016, the port handled 93.36 mln t of cargo, container throughput totaled 83,934 TEUs.

Ust-Luga port is situated practically at the border of the Russian Federation and the European Union. The deep water area of the port (17.5 m) together with the approach channel (3.7 km) make Ust-Luga port the only Russian port on the Baltic Sea capable of admitting dry-cargo vessels with the deadweight of up to 75,000 tonnes and liquid cargo carriers with the deadweight of up to 160,000 tonnes.
